Russia gains influence in Africa

Russia plans to build a naval base on the Red Sea coast. The civil war in Sudan is a proxy war, with several other players besides Russia who do not look favorably on Russia’s expansion in the Red Sea. Meanwhile, the Russians are supporting both sides, i.e. the Sudanese government and the rebels.
