Omar Sayfo
Omar Sayfo holds MA degrees in Arabic Studies and Political Science from Eötvös Loránd University. He earned his PhD in 2016 at Utrecht University where his research was focused on Arab children’s television. In 2014 he was a visiting researcher at the HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World, University of Cambridge. His main fields of research are the media and politics of the Middle East. He is the author of several scholarly articles published in top journals, and his first academic monograph came out with Edinburgh University Press in 2021. His journalistic output was published in the The New York Times and Foreign Policy, among others. He has worked as a researcher at Avicenna Institute of Middle Eastern Studies since 2019. His work at Migration Research Institute focuses on the integration of European Muslim diasporas and the dynamics of Middle Eastern societies.
