The Myths of Migration – and How to Change the Discourse?
In the current discourse on migration, leading narratives are economic gains, integration successes, multiculturalism, and diversity. As regards irregular migration, the focus is on forced displacement and oppressed individuals who leave their countries because of persecution, war, and poverty. But what is the reality? Is it true that migration contributes to the GDP growth of receiving countries? Are asylum seekers refugees or overwhelmingly economic migrants? The panel discussion with Mark Krikorian and Nick Zangwill analyses the aforementioned myths and provides a realistic outlook.
