Serbia has played an increasingly significant role since the 2010s in political, cultural, and, not least, economic cooperation with several African states. Belgrade is building its position in African markets not only through bilateral agreements but also within institutionalized frameworks aimed at covering the entire continent. With an eye on the dynamic population growth of the African continent, the Western Balkan country sees an opportunity to exploit market niches and, as a self-proclaimed “small player,” make its mark among the major players. One of its significant product groups destined for African export is weapons, ammunition, and other military equipment.
The study focuses primarily on arms exports while also addressing other products and services to examine the Serbian-African relationship network. It also discusses the migration processes affecting the Sahel region, which are primarily driven by armed conflicts.
