After more than two years of government in crisis, the Netherlands held elections again. The liberal D66 party emerged as the big winner of the election, while Geert Wilders’ anti-immigration PVV and the social democratic PvdA, which were considered the frontrunners, performed worse than expected. The country is now expected to be led by a centrist or center-left coalition that will have to grapple with the housing crisis, environmental pollution, and the changing geopolitical situation.
