Morocco is to be monitored very closely. It is the most stable country in the entire Maghreb and regardless of ongoing high-level tensions with neighbouring Algeria, it still enjoys almost unconditional U.S. support. With the coming months it is very likely that both China and Russia from the U.N. council will approve Moroccan advance in the so-called “Moroccan Sahara” following similar steps taken by the U.S., France and the UK. At the same time China is using Morocco as a bridgehead to make batteries for its electric cars while the United States tries to protect Moroccan interests in terms of lithium supply.
