Migration Research Institute’s latest analysis examines current trends and challenges in irregular migration between Morocco and Algeria, focusing on the last five years. Migration flows between the two countries pose serious problems, as political differences — including the Western Sahara conflict and the border closure in place since 1994 — make meaningful cooperation difficult and increasingly force migrants to use informal routes.
