The EU and the Belarusian regime are playing a typical game of scaredy-cat, in which it is not known who will eventually pull the government aside. It is clear that all parties involved in the current situation feel like losers. The solution is made more difficult by the fact that there is no real room for compromise: for example, the EU is unlikely to agree to a partial suspension of economic sanctions against Lukashenka and his circle. Unfortunately, there is no prospect of a resolution of the conflict in the short term; in fact, escalation seems to be the more realistic scenario, Szabolcs Janik, deputy director of the MRI told M1 TV channel on the morning show.
