Six crew, including a Hungarian sailor, from a German container vessel were kidnapped in Nigerian waters on 21 October. The vessel was attacked by pirates when approaching one of the ports of Nigeria.
Mr. Viktor Marsai, senior researcher at the Migration Research Institute, said on RTL Klub television that pirates were active in those zones as limited public control over the seas presented low risk for ship attackers.
