Our senior researcher Sayfo Omar spoke on MTV Union27 saying that while around 40% of people arriving in Europe come from former conflict zones, mainly Syria or Afghanistan, these countries have not been experiencing the same degree of active conflict recently. Syria has seen a two-year lull in violence and Afghanistan is relatively calm a year after the Taliban takeover.
